Callaway Gardens Getaway

dinner at the Lodge and Spa

Although we’ve been doing A LOT of traveling lately, it’s been tricky to fit in date nights. So, we decided we’d cash in our groupon and spend 24 hours at Callaway Gardens sans Vera. So after church and lunch with Grant & Heather (Brian’s college friends), we left Vera in good hands with Ellie Grace, an incoming IMPACT360 student. We were off to Callaway ‘s Lodge and Spa— where we spent our first night after getting married.

It brought back a lot of memories! Our stay was pretty short before, as we were on our way to Cancun to spend the majority of our honeymoon. This time, we experienced more the amenities. We enjoyed the pool and outdoor hot tubs after arriving, then had a nice dinner in the Piedmont restaurant.

The next morning we had a full breakfast at the lodge, then headed to the spa for our couples massage. wow, wow, wow. It was amazing!

I won!

Our last activity was exploring the gardens, which we were already very well acquainted with. While working at IMPACT360, we use to run around Robin Lake and ride bikes on the trails. But even though the gardens weren’t new, it was fun to return and experience it again. We even did some putt-putting and geocaching around the Butterfly house. We dropped our travelbug that we picked up in Idaho on the way to Yellowstone and picked up another one.

We love being together. We want to continue to make it priority to have periodic getaways each year, even if its only for 24 hours!

Ellie Grace & Vera (15 mo)

We could tell Vera had a blast playing with Ellie Grace and her family, but it was good to see her and smother her with kisses.

That night we headed over to Addie and Donnie’s house, our dear friends from when we lived in Columbus. It was wonderful to catch up on life before flying out the next morning. Where to? Back to Utah to pack up our townhome and hit the road once again.
