2nd Anniversary

June 7, 2011 dinner at Canoe

A lot has happened in two years.

We were married, honeymooned in Cancun, road tripped up the east coast, I completed grad school, Brian has moved into a manager position at CFA, we celebrated our 1st anniversary cruising the Caribbean, restored a vintage tandem, and we had a baby. Our love has grown even stronger, and I’d say we are still “newly weds.” I hope that description can always apply to us!

amazing we got a picture of this -- it was quickly devoured!

To celebrate our marriage, Brian planned an evening out at Canoe — a restaurant on the banks of Chattahoochee river. We both couldn’t resist a chance to try rabbit for our entree — “Slow Roasted Carolina Rabbit with Swiss Chard, Bacon Ravioli, Sweet Potato Hash and Candied Garlic Sauce.”

We also enjoyed a Warm Artisan Cheese Salad and Canoe’s House Smoked Salmon on a Crispy Potato Cake with Vermont Goat’s Cheese as a starter. Is your mouth watering yet? If not, our dessert choice might… Brian ordered some chocolaty rolled dessert with candied chestnuts (which we cannot remember the name of!) and I ordered Valhrona Chocolate & Salted Caramel Grotto with Pretzel Hazelnut Dust. Our waitress said it was a must for chocolate lovers. So, of course, I had to have it!

After dinner, we enjoyed the sunset and the twinkle of fireflies overlooking the river. So romantic! We acknowledge that it’s only by God’s grace that we are able to accomplish anything and offer love, service, and commitment to each other. As we start year three, we discussed what we hope this next year will look like. Top on the list is pointing others to Christ through our marriage — may it truly mirror God’s love and sacrifice for the Church.

We want to continue to have new family adventures, weekend getaways for just of the two of us, and strive to continually improve our communication and openness with each other. Much is unknown as far as where we’ll be living (somewhere in the U.S.?) and what our day-to-day will look like. Our journey has just begun! (As Brian penned in the song he wrote for me and sang during our engagement night.)

It’s fun to look back our wedding day and the excitement it held. Here’s just a few pictures and our video (password Bethany). Here’s to another fabulous year of marriage!
