Creme Brulee Stuffed French Toast

Here’s a rule of thumb: Any food with the word “stuffed” in it is a winner. Stuffed crust pizza, stuffed shells, stuffed peppers… yum!

When I found this recipe on a bed and breakfast website, I had no choice but to make it. French toast with a crispy outside and creamy inside… how could I go wrong? There was only one problem — it required a creme brulee torch.

The torches run about 30 bucks, which isn’t exactly in our monthly budget. Thankfully, we were able to acquire one for free through Freecycle. (woo hoo!) After picking up some butane and borrowing some ramekins, we were in business.

The recipe is definitely a multi-step (even multi-day!) process, but well worth the time! In case owning a bed and breakfast is ever in our future, we’ll have a delicious, day-starting meal to serve.

Ps. Yesterday I made another breakfast item — homemade granola — using my friend Catherine’s recipe. Brian and I recommend it!

  1. Awww, you made my granola recipe! It’s so good isn’t it? I’m glad you and Brian liked it!

  2. Mmmm, I love homemade granola. I recently found a recipe to make granola bars, using that granola, and all I can say is, for something that doesn’t have a lick of chocolate in it, it sure tastes good!!
