Bethany’s birthday weekend

Ready to play disc golf!

I’m continually amazed and blessed by the creativity of my husband. And, I recently learned how great he is at keeping surprises!

Brian planned a weekend getaway the weekend before my birthday, and I had no idea where we were headed until we literally arrived at our destination.

The first stop was a disc golf course in Fayetteville, GA — an 18-hole course that was new to both of us. It has been a great outdoor hobby for us recently!

After requesting coffee before bed, we found this coffee tray outside our door

Then, Brian started driving to the next stop: the tiny town of Senoia. We pulled up to a quaint Bed and Breakfast, the Veranda Inn. Built in 1906, it was here that Margaret Mitchell interviewed Confederate Veterans for “Gone With the Wind.” We enjoyed soaking in the history, being pampered with a 3-course breakfast, and getting to know the lovely owners — Rick and Laura.

Our dinner location was only a brief walk from the Veranda Inn. It was a full house at Founders Restaurant, and we were thankful Laura had called to make our reservation! The food was delicious and we enjoyed our meal listening to some live jazz.

Downtown Senoia

Since Senoia is famous for having movies filmed in the downtown, we heard that Founders draws a lot of actors who are in town. We concur, it’s the place to go!

Saturday, we walked the downtown and peeked in the unique shops. But, the main attraction for the day was visiting the Southern Living Idea Home. Since Brian and I are dreaming of one day owning a home (or at least renting a home in the near future!), Brian concluded this would be  good place to visit. And it was!

Touring the 4th floor

The featured home was a 4-story townhouse with all the best features and upgrades — even an elevator! We ooed and awed and took away from fun ideas. I loved the upstairs craft room with the meditation garden. Brian loved the massive master bedroom bathroom (complete with a double rainfall shower!) and lots of closet space. Gorgeous!

It was a wonderful chance to get away together and see another part of Georgia. Only an hour’s drive south of Marietta, we think you’d love it to! Thanks, Brian, for an amazing birthday weekend!
