One Day Without Shoes

If I had a million dollars, there are many ministries and nonprofits to which I’d love to give generously. The fact is, our charitable giving usually reflects our moderate income level. Buying $50+ shoes isn’t in the budget for this month (or the next), or I’d love to support TOMS shoes.

Even though I don’t own any TOMS, I still resonate with their vision to provide children in developing countries with shoes. For every pair shoes they sell, they give one pair away. Now isn’t that a good model for tithing our resources — one for one!

April 8, 2010, TOMS is challenging the world to go barefoot. People are encouraged to make a pledge on their website to go without shoes for one day. Personally, I’ve decided to join and will commit to pray for the children of developing countries who lack basic needs, like shoes. I’d encourage you to go barefoot at some point during the day (if possible) and spend some time in prayer!
