Exploring Downtown Decatur

Easter Sunday was a perfect afternoon to spend exploring Downtown Decatur. We planned to met Elizabeth and Jess at the Brick Store Pub for dinner, but had a few hours on our own. The downtown area is a walkable size with some unique shops and restaurants.

We relaxed at Java Monkey, an organic coffee and wine shop with outdoor seating. The iced coffee is cold pressed, which I prefer over coffee that simply has ice in it. It looked like the other patrons were camped out for the day in the sun. Across the street a few people were playing a lazy game of boccie ball. We noted a few places we’d like to visit on next trip to Decatur, including the Yogurt Tap and the Raging Burrito.

Most relaxing was soaking up some sun in front of the Courthouse, and looking at the sculptures.

The Brick Store Pub had and the look and feel of a loft, with exposed brick and high ceilings. It was the perfect place to celebrate Jess’ birthday — and his ENGAGEMENT to Elizabeth! What a joyous day to celebrate two precious people the Lord has called together in marriage.
